What types of equipment and services does Hudson’s Wheelchair Rentals provide?
Hudson’s Wheelchair Rentals provides a variety of mobility scooters, power wheelchair, and transport wheelchair options.  Whether it is a short term injury, long term travel, oceanfront festival, week long cruise or weekend concert, HWR may have a mobility scooter or power wheelchair delivery and rental option for you.
How do I rent mobility equipment?

You can book your rental online through our rental page.  Also, consider your unique needs when renting a wheelchair, power chair, or mobility scooter.

How fast can I book mobility equipment?

To ensure equipment availability, it is recommended that you book at least 24 hours in advance.  Please call us and we will be more than happy to try to accommodate your needs! 

Does HWR sell special needs equipment?

Who do I call if my equipment breaks down?

Call us immediately at 757-675-1791 and we will be more than happy to assist in troubleshooting or dispatch a replacement rental at no charge possibly.  If we can not get you back rolling in your rental due to lack of driver availability, your next rental is on us (for the same duration or less).

What are your rental rates?

Our rental rates are displayed at booking.  Feel free to call us at 757-675-1791 and we can help you get what you need, when you need if you require additional flexibility.

How do I pay for the equipment rental?

Hudson’s Wheelchair Rentals accepts payments online or over the phone, by major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

Where do I pick up and drop off the equipment?

Hudson’s Wheelchair Rentals specializes in door-to-door delivery.  We deliver your mobility scooter or power wheelchair directly to your hotel, residence, venue, cruise ship port, festival, or event.

Hotel Rentals – Simply leave the equipment at the hotel bell desk.

Cruise Ship Rentals – Please leave the equipment at the location where you retrieved equipment or schedule pick up directly with driver.

Call us at 757-675-1791 and we will provide the most convenient delivery and pick up arrangements for your rental.

When do I recharge the equipment's batteries?

Batteries on your mobility scooter or power chair requires charging whenever the battery is low or daily.

  1. Plug the power cord into a standard outlet and connect to charging port.
  2. Mobility Scooter – Battery is under the seat on the foot rest, port is behind plastic cover next to fault light.
  3. Power Chair – The port plug is in the underside of the toggle on the arm of power chair.

Will the equipment fit into the trunk of a car?

Mobility scooters may be disassembled and loaded into the trunk of a medium to full-sized car (with the heaviest piece weighing between 35 and 65 pounds).

Power chairs and heavy duty scooters cannot be disassembled and are more suitable to be transported to its transport specifications.  Wheelchairs and knee scooters are able to be folded for easy transport as well.
